reaction to news of an impending nuclear attack would be to go straight to their local boozer. Just 18% said they would try to build a makeshift ‘bunker’, with 14% saying they’d ‘do nothing’

as there was ‘no point’. Researchers asked those taking part what they’d do first if told a nuke was ‘inbound’ within the next hour. Ritchie Harbottle, 29, of Maidstone, Kent, said he’d
