JAY SLATER'S INQUEST WAS ADJOURNED ON WEDNESDAY AFTER THE TEENAGER'S MUM TOLD THE CORONER SHE STILL HAD QUESTIONS WHICH NEEDED ANSWERS INCLUDING FROM JAY'S FRIEND LUCY LAW

DAILY STAR 07:41, 22 May 2025Updated 07:42, 22 May 2025 A key witness in Jay Slater's inquest is on holiday on the island where the incident took place, her family shared. Lucy Law who

was with the teen before his death and the last person to speak to him. She did not show at the high-profile inquest yesterday - leading to it being adjounred. But she reportedly on holiday

in Tenerife and is said to be 'clueless' that the police are seeking her testimony for Slater's inquest. The proceedings were put on pause on Wednesday after the mother of the

teenager pleaded with the coroner for answers on her son's death. Preston Coroner's Court was informed that certain individuals hadn't been located for the inquiry, including

Law, who was on holiday with 19-year-old Mr. Slater before he disappeared last summer. But Andy Davis, her stepfather, claimed from their home in Burnley, Lancashire last night: "The

police have only just been round today to say that she was due to give evidence. But it's the first time we knew of it... We had no idea Jay's inquest was even being held

today." Article continues below A source close to the Slater family told Mail Online: "Lucy is in Tenerife. Another supposedly untraceable witness is on holiday in Greece. If we

can find this out so quickly why can't the police?" Further elusive witnesses involve two men running an AirBnb retreat where Mr. Slater, an apprentice brick layer, visited before

he vanished. Once all testimonies were heard on Wednesday, Ms. Duncan brought the matter before Dr. James Adeley, senior coroner for Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen. She said: "How

can we ever get any understanding? There's things we want to question. We want these people to be sat in front of us, because our son went on holiday and didn't come back, so

there's questions we need to ask." Law was left distraught after receiving a call last June from the 19-year-old Brit who said he was lost with his phone battery at one per cent

and desperately needing water. Slater, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, had been partying at the NRG Festival at Papagayo, in Playa de las Americas, Tenerife on June 16 but lost track of his

mates, including Law, after the all-nighter. The inquest, which has been put on hold without a new date in sight, revealed that Mr Slater had traces of drugs like cocaine, ketamine and

ecstasy in his system. The pathologists have ruled his death from head injuries due to a likely fall from height. Coroner Dr Adeley pointed out: "When drugs are involved in a death, the

witnesses are less than forthcoming and do not wish to speak to the authorities." He also noted the difficulty in getting information, saying: "We can't find them (the

witnesses), they have stopped responding to phone calls." Article continues below After a 29-day search, Mr Slater's remains were discovered in a ravine on July 15. The hazardous

nature of the terrain was highlighted during the inquest as "really steep, really dangerous" with the proceedings set to continue at an undetermined future date. _FOR THE LATEST
