Ukrainian national Roman Lavrynovych, 21, has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life over fires at two properties and a car linked to the Prime Minister, the
Metropolitan Police said today (May 15). He was arrested at an address in Sydenham, south-east London, early on Tuesday (May 13) morning and will appear at Westminster Magistrates'
Court tomorrow (May 16). Each charge is related to three incidents over a four-day period. These include a vehicle fire in Kentish Town, north London, a fire at the PM's private home on
the same street and a fire at an address that he previously lived at in north-west London. The head of the Crown Prosecution Service counter terrorism division, Bethan David, said:
"These charges relate to two fires at residential addresses in Islington on Sunday May 11 and in Kentish Town on Monday May 12, as well as a car fire in Kentish Town on Thursday May 8.
"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are now active and that he has the right to a fair trial." Neighbours reported
hearing a "loud bang" as the blaze broke out at the PM's four-bedroom townhouse in the early hours of Monday (May 11). Footage also emerged of a car on fire in the street
near the house in Kentish Town, which currently being let to tenants after Sir Keir, 62, moved to No10 Downing Street. London Fire Brigade (LFB) responded to calls of flames at 1:11am on
Monday and said their was "damage" to the front of the house. They said the fire was brought under control by 1.33am. The Met said earlier this week: “As a precaution and due to
the property having previous connections with a high-profile public figure, officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command are leading the investigation into this fire. Enquiries are
ongoing to establish what caused it.” “All three fires are being treated as suspicious at this time, and enquiries remain ongoing.” Opposition Conservative Leader Kemi Badenoch said during
Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday: "I think I speak for the whole house when I say that this wasn't just an attack on him, but on all of us and on our democracy."
Sir Keir responded: "I really do appreciate that, and she's absolutely right that this is an attack on all of us, on democracy and the values that we stand for." The incident
did not take place at Starmer's governmental house of No.10 Downing Street, but rather his residential property. The property is thought to be currently rented out while the PM is
living in Westminster. FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE DAILY STAR, SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTERS.
