Belfast's SSE Arena complex has been evacuated as emergency services rushed to the scene. Teams from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) have been spotted at the venue,
which did not have a major event slated for today (June 3). Despite the evacuation at the arena a spokesperson for NIFRS told the Belfast Telegraph the incident involved a "fire
drill". The Daily Star has reached out to authorities for further information. Local media reports that the Fire Service was mistakenly tasked while a fire drill was taking place at the
venue. Earlier, crews had been spotted attending the popular entertainment venue, while some people inside the complex were ordered to evacuate. Speaking to the Daily Star, a spokesperson
for the NIFRS said: "It was a fire drill that the venue had initiated, so when our teams arrived at the venue we were informed by management. After this, the teams left as no further
action was required." Two days ago Gatwick Airport faced dramatic scenes as it was evacuated following the blare of a fire alarm which sparked panic amongst holidaymakers. Pandemonium
unfolded across social media as videos depicted travellers being ushered out of Gatwick Airport swiftly on June 1. Emma Harckham, caught in the thick of the action, documented the ordeal on
her social media, captioning the event: "Not the fire alarm going off at Gatwick Airport and everyone having to evacuate". Her footage showcased an orderly but urgent mass exit
towards safety. London Gatwick officials spoke to the Express, confirming: "London Gatwick's South Terminal Departure Lounge was evacuated for a short time this morning due to a
fire alarm activation." Continuing on, they were quick to alleviate concerns, noting that the swift response by the airport’s Fire Service confirmed the absence of any real fire threat
and passengers were allowed back into the Departure Lounge without much delay.
