THE 31-YEAR-OLD HAS OPTED TO LEAVE THE SOUTH LANARKSHIRE SIDE, HAVING JOINED FROM AYR LAST SUMMER 09:41, 21 May 2025 Hamilton Accies have parted company with club captain Sean McGinty after
the defender opted to active a relegation release clause. The 31-year-old joined the club from Ayr United last summer and made 44 appearances for Accies this season, scoring four goals. He
took the armband in February when club captain Scott Martin left the club for Partick Thistle in a swap deal with Scott Robinson, who penned a two-and-a-half year deal. However, _LANARKSHIRE
LIVE SPORT_ can reveal McGinty has left the club with immediate effect after deciding against staying with Accies as they prepare to embark on a campaign in League One. The centre-back is
keen to remain in the Championship but is also open to a move down south, where he has spent the majority of his career. The ex-Manchester United youth has played for the likes of Torquay,
Rochdale, Aldershot and Sheffield United, while his stay in Scotland over the last five years has seen him turn out for Ayr United, Partick Thistle and Morton. Article continues below
Accies, who are moving to Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld this summer, have already announced they will remain full-time in their quest to seal an immediate return to the second tier next
