DONS NEWBOY TARGETS AUSSIE SPOT Nick Suman has insisted he is moving to Aberdeen to be No. 1 and to force his way into the Australia squad. _RECORD SPORT_ broke the story earlier this month

that the Dons were on the trail of the Cove Rangers keeper and now his pre-contract to Pittodrie has been confirmed. The 25-year-old is aiming to dislodge Scottish Cup hero Dimitar Mitov and

having previously been capped at Australia at under-age he wants to force his way into the Socceroos squad. Suman said: “100%, that is everybody’s goal. You want to play as many games as

you can. That is my goal and I want to show everybody what I can do and show everybody at Aberdeen what I have in the locker. “You always have to be ready and on your game. I have some

targets and personal goals that I want to achieve for myself. “One is to play as many games as possible and show what I’ve got. “Another goal is an International call-up, it is a drama of

mine to get called up for Australia. “That would be a really big drive for this season to get selected. “I have done all the youths and under-age and the next step is the Socceroos.

“Hopefully, I can do enough here to get called up. That is a big goal for me. I am really excited to see what these next couple of years hold for me.” The former Macarthur player will be

joined by fellow Australian winger Nicolas Milanovic, who the Dons have signed from Western Sydney Wanderers. Suman is no stranger. He explained: “My brother grew up playing with him and we

became friends at the time. We have kept in contact for the last 10 years playing football with and against each other. “He is a great player who has really come into his own. I am excited

to see what happens. I can help him out.” Suman might be from down under but has been a fan of Aberdeen for some time because his grandparents hail from the Granite City. He explained: “For

myself, I have been in the city of Aberdeen for the last two years. I realise what a big club it is to the city and the fans. That drove me towards it and it is a real honour to sign. “My

mum found out she had grandparents who were from Aberdeen. I followed Aberdeen for a bit. It is a small world and drove me a little more towards it. I am enjoying it.” Suman met Jimmy Thelin

a few weeks and knew then Aberdeen would be his next destination. Dundee United had scouted him and Motherwell had multiple bids turned down for him in January. Suman, speaking to RedTV,

confirmed: “I had a meeting with the manager a couple of weeks ago and he seems to be a great guy, person and man manager. I am looking forward to working with him. “You can see what he has

done over the last year and everybody wants to play for him.”
