THE PEDESTRIAN WAS LEFT IN A SERIOUS CONDITION IN CROSSHOUSE HOSPITAL IN KILMARNOCK. 11:08, 20 May 2025Updated 14:46, 20 May 2025 A 30-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with

attempted murder after a suspected hit-and-run incident outside a pub in Ayrshire over the weekend. Emergency services raced to the scene at Burns Statue Square in Ayr just after 9pm on

Saturday, May 17. The woman is believed to have struck a female pedestrian with her car outside the busy Rabbie's Bar before fleeing the scene. The pedestrian was rushed to Crosshouse

Hospital in Kilmarnock to be treated for her injuries, where her condition was described as serious but stable. A probe was later launched by Police Scotland to identify the driver and the

offending vehicle, which ended up wedged between the front of the pub and a bus shelter immediately following the crash. Shelby Laughland was arrested and charged over the incident. She

appeared in Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, May 19, charged with attempted murder, assault to injury and an attempt to defeat the ends of justice. JOIN THE DAILY RECORD WHATSAPP COMMUNITY! Get

taken at the scene, seemingly before emergency services arrived, shows the car, a white Audi A3, in the middle of the pavement at an angle. It was lodged between the front of the pub and the

shelter at a bus stop, which was also damaged. The entrance to the pub was almost completely blocked by the front of the car. Any damage at the front of the car was not visible, however the

back windscreen was mostly shattered following the incident, with just a corner of cracked glass still remaining. A crowd of at least seven people, said to have been distressed locals, were

spotted surrounding it. One person was spotted standing on tiptoe behind it, as if peering in through the space where the window was. At least three can be seen clustered around the

driver's side in the narrow gap between the car and the bus shelter. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 30-year-old woman has been arrested and charged following an alleged

hit and run incident in Burns Statue Square, Ayr on Saturday, 17 May 2025. "She was due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, 19 May 2025. A report has been submitted to the

Procurator Fiscal." Article continues below A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 21:19 on Saturday 17 May to attend a one-car road traffic

collision on Burns Statue Square, Ayr. "We dispatched two ambulances and two special operations response teams (SORT) to the scene. We transported one patient to University Hospital

Crosshouse."
