"MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH JILLIAN AND THE REST OF YOUR FAMILY. YOU WERE ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS IN LIFE. GOD BLESS YOU MATE." 13:57, 04 Jun 2025Updated 14:01, 04 Jun 2025 Tributes have

been paid to Greg Monks after a body was found during searches for the missing Scots tourist in Portugal. The 38-year-old from Glasgow vanished while on a stag do last Wednesday morning. A

body found at the bottom of a ravine is “a long way from the spot where he was last seen" in the Algarve with Portuguese newspaper daily Correio da Manha reporting the local Policia

Judiciaria force is at the scene. Following the news tributes have flooded in for Greg, who has been hailed as a "lovely guy". Alexander McHendrie said: "Rip Greg Monks defo

one of life's good guys such a shame. Heart goes out to the family and the boys also." Article continues below George Garscadden said: "Heartbreaking news RIP Greg Monks. My

thoughts are with Jillian and the rest of your family. You were one of the good guys in life. God bless you mate." Abby Telfer said: "So sad. Thoughts go out to my girl Jillian,

her family and his poor girlfriend. Rest in peace Greg. Utterly heartbreaking." Justine Brns said: "RIP Greg Monks. What a good guy you were. Heartbroken for your family and

friends. Devastating news for everyone who knew you." Agnes Neil-Neeson said: "I have no words. He was a lovely boy." Alicia Faulds said: "Heartbroken for Nicole and

Greg’s family. I was praying for him and hoping he would be found safe." His family and police are yet to comment. Greg vanished in the early hours of Wednesday, May 28, while on a stag

do with pals. He had just arrived for the five-day holiday when he became separated from his friends. He was last seen on CCTV in the residential area of Cerro de Aguia on Tuesday May 27,

roughly four miles away from the main club and bar strip of Albufeira. Last night Greg's sister Jillian admitted her "unimaginable" fear Greg may be "lying somewhere and

we can't find him". The family had shared a photograph of the last known picture of him, showing him in navy Nike shorts and a t-shirt of the same brand. Jillian said Greg's

friends raised the alarm on Wednesday last week after he failed to appear following their first night out. Pals told his sister "he's not come home from the night before", and

asked whether they could track his phone to see his location. Jillian said when she first tried to report Greg as missing she said authorities initially did not appear to take the case

"seriously" because "it hadn't been that long". When his family arrived in Albufeira to aid search efforts, police told them there were two recorded sightings of him

on CCTV in Cerro de Aguia. This area includes "rough terrain", including jagged rocky hillsides and sharp cliffs, she said, and was over an hour's walk from the Albufeira

Strip, where his friends last saw him. The family had also set up a Facebook group to help spread the word, which now has over 10,000 members. JOIN THE DAILY RECORD WHATSAPP COMMUNITY! Get

and information on his last known whereabouts. A number of extensive private searches were underway, including drone searches involving volunteers. A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We

are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Portugal and are in contact with the local authorities”.
