Viktor gyokeres handed transfer boost as next club 'decided'

There's been an update on Manchester United's reported interest in Sporting Lisbon former Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Red Devils have been linked with a new forward

for some time, although they didn't manage to secure one during the January transfer window. Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel was rumoured to be on United's radar before the 19 year

old opted for a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur, but Gyokeres has been a name circulating in United's gossip columns ever since his former boss at Sporting Lisbon, Ruben Amorim, took

over as head coach at Old Trafford in November. The Sweden international has netted 33 goals for Sporting this season and is expected to be hot property in Europe come summer. And according

to the i Paper, United are still keen on Gyokeres and even considered making a bid during the January window. However, Sporting reportedly insisted on the full £83million release clause for

the striker, a sum United were not willing to pay. Instead, it seems Sporting will reduce their asking price for Gyokeres this summer. Reports suggest United could have the opportunity to

sign the striker for £60m when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season, which would be a significant boost for the Reds, reports the Manchester Evening News. Following a report

by The Sun in November stating that Gyokeres has "decided" he wants to join United and reunite with Amorim, the latest update suggests this could be on the cards. However, United

aren't the only club interested in the Swede, with Arsenal also long-time admirers. After failing to secure a striker in January, United's centre-forward options currently consist

of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund. The club allowed Marcus Rashford and Antony to leave on loan deals, leaving Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho as their remaining senior wide forwards.

Coventry City have reportedly made at least £20m from the sale of Gyokeres to Sporting in the summer of 2023.
