A warning has been issued to all householders after a bin truck fire. North Warwickshire Borough Council has issued the plea following an incident last month. It said that a bin collection

truck was left in flames after a local put batteries in their household bin. "Last month, we experienced an incident where a resident had put their batteries in their household bin,

which then led to our bin collection truck setting on fire," the council said. "Batteries should never be binned. Take your batteries to your local supermarket, or your local

household waste recycling centre (the tip) to prevent future risk to our crew and local homes." READ MORE: NEW DEDICATED BUSINESS CRIME TEAM AMID NUNEATON TOWN CENTRE SHOPLIFTING

Earlier this year, neighbouring West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) issued an appeal to people to safely bin batteries and vapes. The fire service said that, between December 30 last year and

7 January 7 of this year, a total of 200 firefighters responded to fires at scrap metal, breakers and recycling sites. "All were accidental but avoidable, as it’s suspected some of

these incidents were started by batteries, which are a growing concern in the fire sector," the fire service said.
