Show MeNo thanks, closeSee ourPrivacy NoticePolice in Warwickshire have issued a 'stark reminder' of the potential dangers of countryside driving after a crash over the weekend. The warning comes from the force's rural
crime team who attended an incident on Saturday.
The collision saw two vehicles, a car and a van, both receive damage to their front on a quiet country road. Police shared an image from the scene and a warning on social media the day of
the incident.
The post stated: "With the recent spell of good weather, more of us are taking to Warwickshire ’s beautiful rural roads – whether it’s for work, leisure, or travel. Unfortunately, with this
rise in road use, we’re also seeing an increase in collisions, several of which we’ve had to attend in the past few days.

The photo below is from an RTC we responded to earlier today. As you can see, the outcome could have been far worse. Thankfully, both drivers escaped without serious injury – but it was a
very near miss.
We’re sharing this as a stark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong. Country roads can be deceptive – sharp bends, blind corners, narrow verges, and unpredictable hazards like farm
vehicles or wildlife all add to the risks."
The post goes on to remind people of the Drive to Arrive campaign principles. These are:
Drive at a speed suitable for the conditions, not just the speed limit. Expect the unexpected –treat every bend as if there’s something around it. Leave plenty of space between vehicles – especially in low-visibility areas. Stay alert and avoid distractions, even on familiar routes.
The post concludes: "We’d rather prevent accidents than attend them. So, whether you’re local or visiting, let’s all do our part to keep Warwickshire’s roads safe. Drive safely. Drive
responsibly. Drive to arrive."
