Police have made arrangements to interview a man in connection with an appalling attack on a cat in a Warwickshire street. Ring doorbell footage of the attack in Leamington Spa went viral

after it was shared online by Lenny the cat's shocked owner. The incident was reported to Warwickshire Police who confirmed on Sunday (15) that a second breakthrough in its

investigation had been made. "Many of you will have seen a distressing video appearing in the news, showing a man kicking a cat in the Leamington area," a spokesperson for the

force said. "We understand many have been left shocked and appalled by this incident and we would like you all to know that a criminal investigation is under way. A suspect was quickly

identified and arrangements have been made to interview him. We will be keeping you updated on this case." READ MORE: INSIDE THE COVETED VILLAGE 25 MINUTES FROM COVENTRY FACING AN

IDENTITY CRISIS Lenny's owner claimed the injuries her cat suffered in the attack, which happened shortly before 7am on September 16, led to his death. In the video widely circulated

online a man is seen crossing the road with his Alsatian before encountering Lenny in Hastang Fields. A man, dressed in black trousers, a black sweater and a white shirt, berates his dog as

he puts its lead on and shakes it by the scruff of the neck. He then walks towards Lenny on the pavement and kicks out, sending him high into the air before he lands sprawling on the tarmac.

Lenny died on Monday, October 10. His owner told MailOnline how her cat, who was 20, never really recovered from the incident. "On Monday I woke up at half one in the morning - I just

had a feeling," she told MailOnline. "I thought, 'I need to go and see Lenny.' "I came down the stairs and he was on his mat and Lily had just darted to the door to

come out. I think she sort of knew. I know he was old but I do think the kick had something to do with it." SIGN UP TO OUR DAILY NEWSLETTER HERE FOR ALL THE LATEST WARWICKSHIRE NEWS.
