The RSPCA is appealing for information after two neglected dogs were found abandoned in Coventry. The pair were left in War Memorial Park on Sunday, February 9, and were rescued by a member
of the public who contacted the dog warden at Coventry City Council. The dogs, named Mimi and Murphy, were found in poor physical condition and health. They also had a skin condition that
meant they were covered in scabs and missing most of their fur. In January 2025, 1,972 incidents were reported to RSPCA, compared to 1,471 incidents in the first month of 2024, a rise of
more than 34%. December 2024 saw 1,802 incidents of abandonment, a rise of 17% higher than 1,540 in 2023. READ MORE: TWO SCHOOL PUPILS NAMED YOUNG WRITER OF THE YEAR 2025 IN COVENTRY RSPCA
Inspector Laura Brewerton, who is investigating for the animal welfare charity, said: "It’s heartbreaking to see how both these dogs had been left. I’m keen to discover what happened to
them and who allowed these dogs to get into such an awful state. The person who found them took them to the dog warden, but they did not have microchips for us to find out any more about
them. "Whilst being cared for by the dog warden, they received treatment for several days because they were struggling in very poor health. Unfortunately, they didn’t respond to
treatment and sadly had to be euthanized because of the severity of their condition." Bosses added that anyone who can help should call the RSPCA's appeals line on 0300 123 8018,
quoting incident 01446701. For more information about the RSPCA, click here. GET DAILY HEADLINES AND BREAKING NEWS EMAILED TO YOU - IT’S FREE
