Police have launched an investigation after an attempted distraction burglary in Coventry. It happened on Church Lane in Stoke.


Relatives said the 80-year-old victim was approached by a man and two women at around 1pm on Wednesday (May 28). She was 'manhandled' as they tried to snatch a bracelet from her


arm, it is understood.


It is believed the three-strong group drove off towards The Rose and Crown on Walsgrave Road. Nobody has been arrested at the time of writing.

Anyone with CCTV from Church Lane, Burns Road, or Walsgrave Road has been urged to get in touch with West Midlands Police. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers.


A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called to reports of an attempted distraction burglary on Church Lane at around 1pm on Wednesday (May 28).


“An investigation is ongoing to identify those involved. Anyone with information can contact us via 101, quoting crime reference number 20/255693/25.”
