A Coventry day nursery has been branded 'Inadequate' after an Ofsted inspection. Rocking Horse Kindergarten on Giles Close, had previously been awarded a 'Good' rating

during an inspection less than three years ago. However, upon returning to the Holbrooks site in April of this year, officials said they found the quality of education required improvement,

as did behaviour and attitudes. Elsewhere personal development was deemed inadequate, as was leadership and management. The damning report uncovered issues which left the "health and

welfare of children in this setting is compromised". READ MORE: NUNEATON HOSPITAL RULES OUT 'FULL MERGER' BUT MASSIVE CHANGE IS ON ITS WAY Bins where used nappies were

disposed of were not covered properly with lids, which meant "odours are strong and the contents are accessible to children". Meanwhile mats used for sleeping children were found

to be split with exposed foam "which traps dirt and poses further safety risks for children if the foam pieces break away". The report states: "The arrangements for the

supervision of staff are not effective. Managers do not provide staff with the necessary training, guidance and support they need to help them improve their knowledge and skills in order to

fulfil their roles effectively." Under 'safeguarding' the report continues: "The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective. There is not an open and positive

culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first." Read the full report here. A spokesman for Rocking Horse told CoventryLive: "The outcome of the inspection

is disappointing, and we feel this is not a true reflection on the setting. "We have taken on board and acted on all of the recommendations already, and we are working with the local

authority to ensure the targets are fully met." Coventry City Council has also been approached for a comment.
