THE NUMBER OF SALES WAS ALREADY IN DECLINE The price of non new-build flats has started to decline according to new sales data with only the south-east of France bucking the trend.
France's largest real estate agency, Century 21 had PREVIOUSLY STATED that “prices have to go down” in order to resuscitate the flagging housing market; new data from the_ Notaires de
France _appears to show the start of this. Paris in particular saw the price of non new-build flats fall by 5.3% between the third quarters of 2022 and 2023. In Lyon, the fall has been more
pronounced, with 5.9% over one year. Some other areas see prices still increasing albeit generally below the rate of year-on-year inflation, which was around 4% in the third quarter of 2023.
The only area that saw a marked increase in the sales prices of non new-build apartments was the south-east, where Nice and Toulon saw rises of 4.3% and 6.4%. SALES PRICE OF NON NEW-BUILD
