THE TICKET PRICE INCREASED FROM THE USUAL €2.15 PER SINGLE JOURNEY TO €4 BECAUSE OF THE OLYMPICS AND PARALYMPICS Paris metro tickets will revert to their previous cost - down from the €4
they are currently as a result of the Paris Olympics and Paralympics - it has been confirmed ahead of next week’s Paralympics. Transport company RATP is planning to bring the cost of a
single journey ticket back to €2.15 each, which was the price before it was raised to €4 for the Olympics and Paralympics period. This price rise was aimed primarily at visiting tourists,
and to help Paris and the transport company network Ile-de-France Mobilités pay for infrastructure upgrades for the events. The higher price was also part of a bid to encourage Paris
residents to take other forms of transport (e.g buses), and avoid overcrowding in the metro system. The price of a T+ single journey ticket will stay at €4 until September 8, the date of the
final day of the Paris Paralympic Games (which begin on August 26). Fares will remain at this level in the intervening period between the Olympics (which finished on August 11) and the
Paralympics before reverting back. “This is a temporary increase,” said Valérie Pécresse, president of the Ile-de-France regional council, last May, when announcing the rise. "[It has]
the sole aim of leaving no Olympic debt to the people of Ile-de-France.” The region has had to increase transport services by 15% during the Games, at an expected €250 million cost. Read

allows you to pay the equivalent of €1.73 per journey, to a maximum of €8.65 daily cap. Read also: How can I avoid high transport ticket costs during Paris 2024 Olympics? Journeys are
recorded as you validate the card and you are debited the following month for the total amount due. You can buy a Liberté + pass online on the RATP website (where it will be sent to you and
arrive within a week), or in person at a ticket office, which will give you the card to top up and use immediately.
