STORMS ARE SET TO RETURN AFTER TEMPERATURES RISE AGAIN. PREDICTIONS FOR TEMPERATURE, SUN, STORM, RAIN AND MORE FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS High temperatures and stormy skies are set to return to
France for the last week of August. These conditions will spike at the end of the week following a period of mostly calm weather. MONDAY AUGUST 26 The week will start off calm and clear.
Coastal Normandy and other parts of the English Channel will see cloudy skies throughout the day, but elsewhere no disturbances are forecast. There are storm warnings in the south-east,
along the Italian border and Mediterranean, but these are of a lower tier-two level and are not guaranteed to cross into France. Temperatures will be cooler than usual, with the national
average temperature for the day around 2C lower than the late August average. North of the Loire, temperatures will hover between 20C and 25C. In the south-west, they will reach up to 27C,
and along the Mediterranean, 30C. Nighttime and early temperatures will be cool in some places, however. It was around 5C in parts of northern France this morning, including the Ardennes,
with similar morning chills expected for the coming days. TUESDAY AUGUST 27 Temperatures will climb across the board on Tuesday, as the national average temperature swings back above late
August norms. Chilly morning temperatures will be swept away, and with the exception of coastal Brittany, it will be 25C everywhere, rising to above 30C in many parts of the south including
Toulouse and inland Provence. No rain or storms are predicted. WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28 Similar conditions are forecast for the middle of the week, with temperatures rising further. Highs of
between 28C and 32C are forecast, with the exceptions of coastal Brittany and Normandy, and parts of the Pays-Basque. Locally in the south-east, these may be closer to 35C. Rainfall is
also likely in coastal Brittany, however it will not move inland. Elsewhere skies will be clear. No heatwave warnings will be given despite warm temperatures in the daytime, as the heat will
not be excessively higher than average, and nighttime temperatures will be cool. Only along the Mediterranean coast will they remain above 20C overnight. THURSDAY AUGUST 29 Temperatures
will drop slightly across the north and west, but remain within the same rough parameters as the preceding two days. In the east, temperatures will remain high, between 30C and 35C in
cities such as Metz, Dijon, and Lyon. Atlantic storms will move in from the west in the daytime, hitting Bordeaux then moving east. Current predictions do not see the storms as
particularly violent, but this may change depending on conditions later in the week. Read more: Storms in France: what to do if at home, out walking or in car FRIDAY AUGUST 30 The storms
will continue to move eastwards, eventually reaching the Alps and the German border. Central France and Brittany will also see rain, and skies will be grey and cloudy across the north,
west, south-west, and Rhône Valley. Only certain parts of the Mediterranean, around Marseille, will benefit from clear skies. The storms are unlikely to last into the weekend – although
cloudy weather is likely – and early forecasts see temperatures remaining the same. At the beginning of next week, another small spike in temperature is expected across the country. This
may bring the national average temperature to nearly 5C above early September averages (23.6C vs 19C).
