ALTHOUGH OVERALL DISRUPTION WILL BE LIMITED, NO NIGHT TRAINS WILL BE RUNNING AND LOCAL SERVICES MAY STILL BE IMPACTED DURING TOMORROW’S STRIKE Strike action by rail workers tomorrow

(November 21) will have a limited impact on the French rail network, state rail operator SNCF has said.  High-speed TGV services, including both Inoui and Ouigo trains, will run mostly as

scheduled.  International high-speed rail services including the Eurostar and SNCF-operated routes should also be mostly unaffected. However, around one in two Intercités services (non

high-speed routes across the country) are affected, and no overnight trains are scheduled.  Local and regional TER services may be affected, but disruption is not set to be widespread on any

line. In and around the capital, RER lines B, C, D, and E will all see varying levels of disruption, as will regional services on the H, J, N, R, and U lines.  Those set to travel tomorrow

are recommended to check if their journey will be impacted using the SNCFConnect website, or local SNCF websites. If travelling internationally, check on the affiliated website (Eurostar,

DeutscheBahn, etc). DECEMBER STRIKE ANNOUNCED The four major rail unions in France called the strike over plans by the SNCF to dismantle its main freight subsidiary into smaller companies,

potentially paving the way for privatisation.  They also called the strikes over plans to open up local and regional rail lines to privatisation.  A second, unlimited strike has also been

called by the unions from December 11 onwards. This will affect travel over the Christmas period, although it is uncertain to what level services will be disrupted.  A period of strike

action this long does not necessarily mean that workers will be on strike everyday, but that they have the option to strike on the days covered if they choose to do so.  Information on

affected timetables is generally available 48 hours in advance when strike action is set to affect national rail routes.  Read more: French rail workers to strike in December: Major

disruption expected
