RISK OF MORNING FROSTS REMAINS IN NORTH AND EAST A week of warm and dry weather is forecast for France, continuing conditions that saw record temperatures for the time of year broken over

the weekend.  Highs of 25.9C were recorded in Paris on Saturday (April 5), smashing the previous daily record of 24C set in 1943.  Several other areas saw record highs as the national

average temperature hit 19.2C, figures usually reserved for mid-June.  This is 5C higher than average for the beginning of April, however some areas saw temperatures peak at 10C above early

April norms.  MONDAY APRIL 7  Despite these high temperatures, mornings are still cold, and in the north and east there is a risk of frost throughout the week.  Early morning temperatures of

between 1C and 3C are likely from Strasbourg to Brittany, as well as in much of central France many days this week.  Once the morning chill disperses, conditions will be mild throughout,

with the north and centre of the country sunny and dry.  Clouds will cover the southern third, however rain is unlikely except for small showers in the mountains.  Temperatures will reach

around 16C in the north and 20C in the south. TUESDAY APRIL 8 Conditions between Tuesday and Friday will remain largely similar. Sunny skies in the north will be partially interrupted on

Tuesday by clouds, although not enough to fully block skies. By the evening the clouds will have mostly been blown away.  The south will be sunnier than on Monday, and no rain is expected.

Temperatures will in turn remain high, in most cases reaching 20C and up to 24C in the south-west.  Nice and the south-east will be the ‘coolest’ period over the coming days, reaching

between 16C and 18C in comparison, although still slightly warmer than average for the season.  WEDNESDAY APRIL 9 Clouds will return to the south on Wednesday, covering from Bordeaux to Lyon

and down to the Spanish/Italian borders.  They may bring small amounts of rain to the mountainous foothills of the Pyrénées, Alps, and Massif Central but will not cause temperatures to

drop.  In the north, skies will remain sunny, although temperatures will fall slightly in some areas due to incoming winds from the British Isles, down to around 16C in Lille and possibly

13C along the Normandy coastline.  As a reminder, morning temperatures in the north will remain chilly, with frost likely. THURSDAY APRIL 10 Current forecasts are for clouds to clear in most

areas – except along the English Channel and near Perpignan in the south.  Rain is possible in the south in the morning but unlikely by midday onwards. Temperatures will drop further in the

north by 1C or 2C, but remain unchanged in the south.  In the south-east, Nice will see temperatures rise slightly up to 19C.  FRIDAY APRIL 11  The warm and dry weather will remain up to

the weekend, along with the sun. Morning fog in the Pyrénées will quickly clear to produce sunny skies and temperatures of up to 25C in some parts.  These highs will be mirrored across the

south-west and central France. The Mediterranean will see highs of around 20C, and whilst most of the north will see temperatures of around 16C to 18C.  However conditions are set to change

with an incoming Atlantic storm forecast for the weekend, bringing thunderstorms to the south-west and rain to the entire country.
