MAKE THE MOST OF THE FIRST HOT SPELL OF THE SUMMER - THERE IS RAIN ON THE WAY FROM TUESDAY LARGE parts of France will enjoy temperatures of more than 35°C today - and the area around
Bordeaux could see 40°C. However, Météo France says the first hot spell of the summer season will not last long, with rain and storms arriving from Tuesday morning. The north and east of
France are forecast 30°C this afternoon, except the tip of Brittany where temperatures will be lower and occasional showers expected. Paris and the centre of France will hit at least 36°C.
The south-west will be the hottest, possibly 40°C, while the south-east will be cooler, around 26°C. Bordeaux might break the record for the highest temperature recorded in France in June,
which was 40.7°C at Gourdon (Lot) in 2003, the year in which thousands of people died from the heatwave. Today's hot weather is not a heatwave - temperatures will fall overnight and the
high daytime temperatures will only last a day or two.
