KUBIX FESTIVAL, SET TO TAKE PLACE IN SUNDERLAND ONCE AGAIN THIS SUMMER WILL NOW NO LONGER GO AHEAD AS PLANNED 12:10, 24 May 2025Updated 12:22, 24 May 2025 It has been one of the biggest
events in the North East since it launched in 2018, but there will be no Kubix festival in Sunderland this summer, with it's 'devastated' organisers confirming they are
'unable to continue.' It was seven years ago that Herrington Country Park, right opposite Penshaw Monument, first welcomed a stellar line-up of pop acts, with the likes of East 17,
Peter Andre, B*Witched and Ronan Keating all taking to the stage in Kubix's debut year. Since then, the event has been headlined by big names like Steps, Sugababes and Busted, with the
Year 3000 trio doing the honours last year. There was a lot of excitement earlier this year, when it was announced that reggae legend Shaggy was set top the bill for Kubix 2025, being
joined on the main stage by acts including A1, Louise, Liberty X, Gareth Gates and Another Level, with Basshunter, Darren Styles and N-Trance on the line-up for the Dance Arena. However,
after speculation over the future of WannaSee, the company responsible for the festival and doubts over whether it would actually go ahead, it has been revealed that Kubix will NOT be
happening this summer. Having told ticket holders earlier in the week that an update was coming, Kubix returned to Facebook on Saturday to post: "We're heartbroken to confirm that
Kubix Festival will not be going ahead this year. Despire enormous efforts behind the scenes, recent developments have made it impossible to continue," as they also offered an apology
to everyone who'd bought tickets. Wannasee themselves also released a statement on Saturday that read: 'It is with deep regret that we confirm Wannasee Ltd will not be able to
continue, and we must announce the cancellation of the following festivals: Kubix and Monument Festivals in Sunderland, Wannasee Penrith and Wannasee South, Jukebox Sunderland and Jukebox
Bingley, Sign of the Times, Stone Valley South, Stone Valley Midlands and Stone Valley North. "We are delighted to confirm however, that Lindisfarne Festival and Northern Kin, will go
ahead as planned, with more news and exciting updates to follow. We with everyone at Lindisfarne and Northern Kin all the very best." The statement explained that there had been
'extraordinary efforts behind the scenes' to try and secure the future of WannaSee's events, with events, with it continuing: "Sadly, despite every avenue being explored
and every resource exhausted, we’ve reached a point where continuing is no longer possible. The impact of a difficult trading environment, combined with a sudden collapse in customer
confidence, has left the business unable to recover. "We are devastated. Wannasee has delivered nearly 100 independent festivals over the past 13 years - made possible by the hard work
and passion of our team, the incredible support of artists, crews and suppliers, and most of all, the loyalty of our audience. We are proud of what we achieved and heartbroken to see it end
this way." Article continues below It ended: "To all of our ticket holders: we are truly sorry. We understand your disappointment and frustration. Please contact your ticket
provider or card issuer for refund information. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being part of this journey." JOIN OUR WHATSAPP COMMUNITIES ChronicleLive is now on WhatsApp
