A MUCH LOVED PLACE IN NORTHUMBERLAND HAS BEEN NAMED THE UK'S BEST SEASIDE TOWN FOR THE FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW 10:11, 29 May 2025Updated 11:04, 29 May 2025 It'll be no surprise to

anyone who lives there or has ever visited a certain place in Northumberland to learn that it has been named the UK's 'best seaside town' for the fifth year in a row.

There's just one slight issue though; it isn't actually a town, as Bamburgh is in fact, very much a village. Given that it's a destination whose appeal has expanded way

further than the Northumberland coast, wider North East and even the UK< it's not a shock that Bamburgh has once again come out on top in new rankings from consumer experts Which?!,

who have awarded the stunning village the same accolade every year since 2021. This time round, Bamburgh received the full 5 rating for its beach, seafront, scenery, tourist attractions, and

peace and quiet. It also clinched an outstanding 86% overall destination score, with visitors, according to Which?! 'loving the spectacular views of Bamburgh Castle, standing guard on

a rocky outcrop above miles of sand and windswept dunes.' 'Bamburgh Castle is probably the most impressive castle in the British Isles,' one visitor said, while many others

praised the 'wild, beautiful beach' and the handful of excellent pubs, restaurants or cafés in the tiny village itself, which include the very popular Castle Inn, Lord Crewe and

Potted Lobster. Bamburgh leads the way in Which's new top seaside destination by 3%, ahead of Portmerion in Wales and Scottish gem St Andrew's. And, while the 2025 list once again

made good reading for Bamburgh, at the opposite end of the standings is the Welsh town Bangor, which scored just 42% and one-star ratings for food and drink, tourist attractions, and

shopping. It received just two stars for everything else and was described as 'drab' and 'run down'. JOIN OUR WHATSAPP COMMUNITIES ChronicleLive is now on WhatsApp and we

rated as one of just nine coveted seaside destinations people should consider moving to, by over 50s sire Rest Less. It was the only place in the North East to make the cut, Bamburgh is

listed alongside the likes of Salcombe in Devon, Tenby in Wales and Portrush in Northern Ireland and finished in second place.. As well as its thriving village centre, Bamburgh is also

blessed with the dramatic backdrop of its world famous castle, as well as a beach that is no stranger to national and international recognition. Just last week it was named the best beach in

the UK for swimmers to visit this summer.
