THE DVSA SAYS THAT MILLIONS OF BUS PASSENGERS CAN TAKE ACTION IF THEIR BUS TURNS UP LATE OR NOT AT ALL - WITH THE MOTORISTS' BODY ISSUING A WARNING TO ROAD USERS JAMIE BRASSINGTON
Senior reporter 14:23, 19 May 2025 The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has issued an advisory to bus users, imploring them to take action if they encounter service issues. The
motoring authority took to Twitter, now known as X, to share the alert with passengers, instructing them on how to report buses that are late or fail to show up. In their statement, the DVSA
said: "Want to know what to do if your bus turns up late or not at all?" Further advising, the DVSA added: "Report them first to your local bus company to give them a chance
to put things right If they don't, email DVSA and we will investigate – possibly involving Traffic Commissioners." Passengers in England (outside of London) and Wales encountering
buses that arrive late or early, don't stop or are no-shows, are encouraged to inform the DVSA about the lapse. When reporting, individuals have the option to provide their
identification and contact information or remain anonymous. The necessary details for lodging a complaint include the incident's date and time, the service or route number of the bus or
coach, the name of the departure or intended boarding stop, the destination or intended getting off stop, and if possible, the operator’s name. GET ALL THE LATEST MONEY NEWS AND BUDGETING
TIPS FROM CHRONICLE LIVE WITH OUR FREE NEWSLETTER Article continues below For Londoners experiencing delays or discrepancies with scheduled bus services, Transport for London (TfL) is the
appropriate body to contact. Similarly, in Scotland, grievances related to the tardiness or absence of regular bus services should be directed to Bus Users Scotland, reports Birmingham Live.
If you believe a bus or coach service has violated accessibility rules, you can report it to the DVSA. This includes issues with assistance getting on and off the vehicle, ramps and lifts,
wheelchair usage, and travelling with an assistance dog. You can also report concerns about priority seats (buses only), seat armrests (coaches only), steps and stairs, handrails, poles and
handholds, floors and aisles, 'stop' or bell buttons (buses only) and route and destination displays. Article continues below To make a report, you'll need the date and time
of the incident, the bus or coach service number (route number), and the name of the stop where you boarded or intended to board, as explained by the DVSA. The DVSA also advises that you
will need the name of the stop where you alighted or intended to alight, and the name of the company operating the bus or coach service (if known).
