ADAM BROWN, WHO WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT, WAS ALSO ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN IN POSSESSION OF CANNABIS 14:27, 23 May 2025 A suspected drug-driving motorcyclist has appeared in court
after a crash on a Northumberland road. Adam Brown was seriously injured in the collision, which happened on the B6341 in Rothbury in June last year. The 22-year-old is suspected of causing
the collision, as well as being over the limit for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a breakdown product of cannabis. He is also alleged to have been in possession of the class B drug at the time.
Brown, of Karenda, in Thropton, near Rothbury, was in the dock at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court this week. He faced one count each of possession of cannabis, driving
over the specified drug limit and careless driving. He withheld his pleas to all charges and, instead, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing.
Prosecutor, Holly Clegg, said the accident happened on June 20 last year. She added: "The charges arise out the same incident. The Crown would submit that it is suitable for summary
trial. Article continues below KEEP UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND TOP STORIES FROM THE NORTH EAST WITH OUR FREE NEWSLETTER "The defendant was allegedly riding his
motorcycle when a collision occurred with another car. The defendant himself was severely injured in the accident. He was taken to hospital and treated." Magistrates accepted
jurisdiction but Brown elected to have his case heard at the crown court. He was released on bail to next appear at Newcastle Crown Court on June 23. Article continues below JOIN OUR
