Teen seriously injured in hospital after being stabbed in mobile phone robbery

he was attacked with a blade during a mobile phone robbery. The 18-year-old suffered serious injuries to his arm in the incident, which happened on Gloucester Road in Elswick, Newcastle, on

Monday night. Police had an area close to the scene cordoned off throughout Tuesday. Officers say two men were walking on the street, when they were approached by two strangers. The men then

demanded they hand over their mobile phones, before one of them attacked the victim. The 18-year-old suffered a serious injury which police describe as being "consistent with having

continues below A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing, and officers remain in the area to investigate and to offer reassurance to the wider public with

increased patrol activity. Today they have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward, especially those who may have CCTV or dashcam footage." A spokeswoman for the

North East Ambulance Service added: "We were called to an incident at the junction of Westgate Road and Gloucester Road shortly after 9.30pm on Monday, May 19. We dispatched a double

crewed ambulance and transported one patient to hospital." Article continues below The police cordon reached around the perimeter of a grassed area near to a number of shops. Officers
