THE ROAD WAS CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS FOR FOUR HOURS ON TUESDAY EVENING 11:22, 29 May 2025 One person was cut out of a car in a crash that closed the A1 on Tuesday evening, Northumberland


Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed. Emergency services were called to the B6348 junction off the A1 near Belford in north Northumberland shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday evening. Police


say that five vehicles were involved in the collision, which saw the road remain closed in both directions for around four hours on Tuesday night. Northumberland Fire and Rescue sent three


engines to the scene, with one of their teams remaining to cut a person free from one of the vehicles. The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that one person was taken to Cramlington


Hospital and a further five were treated at the scene before being discharged, but were unable to say if the person who was cut from the car was the one taken to hospital. OUR NORTHUMBERLAND

for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly before 6.35pm on Tuesday (May 27), we received a report of a collision involving five vehicles on the A1 southbound in Northumberland, at the


junction with the B6349 near Belford. Emergency services attended the scene where one of the vehicles involved was on its side. Article continues below "One person was taken to hospital


for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The road was closed in both directions for around four hours but was later re-opened to traffic."
