THE YOUNG DAD WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE FOLLOWING A MOTORBIKE CRASH ON NEWCASTLE'S WALKER ROAD 16:08, 21 May 2025Updated 10:07, 22 May 2025 Devastated friends of a young dad
killed in a motorbike crash have today described his death as "soul destroying". Tjay Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene after the off-road bike he was on collided with
railings in Walker, Newcastle, on Tuesday night. Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened on Walker Road at around 7.45pm. And on Wednesday, a large group of
Tjay's friends gathered at the scene of the tragedy to lay flowers and share memories of the 23-year-old. Kai Moore, 22, said: "He was the life and soul of the party. There
wasn't a moment of the day when he wasn't dancing. You'll never get a better dancer." While Reece Moore, 25, added: "He was the party. His job was keeping the party
going." Tjay grew up in Newcastle's West End and had been living in North Shields before he died. But his friends said Walker was the place he considered home, and they felt like
he was family. In the hours before the collision, which happened across the road from Aldi, Tjay had been in The County pub with his friends where they took one last picture together as a
group. His friends have now tied this picture to the railings close to where he lost his life, along with numerous bouquets and cards. Police say the white Honda motorcross bike he was
riding came off the road and collided with railings, close to Walker Road's junction with Belmont Court. Another friend of Tjay's said she was shopping in Aldi at the time and
noticed a police officer run out. And as the woman was driving away, another friend flagged down her car and told her what had happened. KEEP UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND
TOP STORIES FROM THE NORTH EAST WITH OUR FREE NEWSLETTER The 33-year-old, who did not want to be named, said: "At first I thought the police were chasing shoplifters. I had pulled out
then my friend stopped me and said 'It's Tjay'. A police officer had run out of Aldi to take over CPR. It's horrible." The woman added: "He was the most
funniest person you could ever meet. Every time you seen him he always had a different story. And he was always dancing." News of Tjay's death quickly spread among his group of
close friends. Kai said: "It was just soul destroying, it's killing us. He was like a brother to all of us." And 20-year-old Charlie Grimes added: "We were just in The
County. Everyone was with him. Then the next minute I got a phone call saying he had been in a crash, then he was gone." And Charlie added: "He was so funny." Meanwhile
witnesses to the crash have told how people living nearby desperately tried to help Tjay. A 38-year-old woman, who lives nearby, said she was watching television with her partner when she
heard a loud bang. And when she went outside she saw a man lying injured in the road next to a motorbike. The woman, who did not want to be named, called 999 and paramedics were on the scene
within minutes. She said: “I heard the bang and felt the house shake. We went running out and saw the bike and him on the floor. It was awful.“It was me that called the ambulance. They were
here in a minute or so. I had to stop outside with my phone and tell the police officers what the paramedics were saying. And my partner and another man had to run round to the community
centre to get a defibrillator. “It was really traumatic. I couldn’t sleep last night. I just kept seeing his face. I think he just lost control. Everybody in Walker seems to know him but I
didn’t.” And a 60-year-old woman who was sitting outside her home at the time of the collision explained how she heard people screaming in the street. “We were all sitting here and just
heard the bang," she said. "I jumped up, but I couldn’t look. It was really, really awful. One of my neighbours phoned an ambulance but they said there was already one on the way.
"There was people screaming. Lots of people came out to try and help him. We don’t know how it happened. It’s tragic. I know him from around. I just knew him to say hello to."
Police say the crash was reported at around 7.45pm. They believe Tjay was travelling westbound on Walker Road at the time. Sections of the road, between Pottery Bank and Belmont Court, were
closed for around three hours as officers carried out investigations at the scene. Sgt Craig Bartle, of the Roads Policing Unit at Northumbria Police, said: “Tragically, a man has lost his
life and we continue to support his loved ones at this devastating time. A number of enquiries are ongoing as we try to establish exactly what has happened in the moments leading up to the
collision. As part of this, we are keen to hear from any motorists who were driving in the area at the time, and any further witnesses, especially those with CCTV or dashcam footage. “This
is usually a busy stretch of road, with lots of people and vehicles in the area at the time, so please get in touch if you saw anything of note. We really appreciate the public’s support as
we look to get answers for the man’s family.” Article continues below Anyone with information should contact Northumbria Police quoting reference number: NP-20250520-1113. JOIN OUR WHATSAPP
