OWEN HODGSON IS ALLEGED TO HAVE LEFT THE VICTIM NEEDING TO BE PLACED INTO A COMA AFTER KNOCKING HIM UNCONSCIOUS 14:16, 22 May 2025Updated 06:54, 27 May 2025 A man has appeared in court
accused of leaving a football fan with permanent hearing loss after an attack in a city centre. Owen Hodgson is alleged to have left the victim with head injuries and needing to be placed
into a coma after knocking him unconscious in Newcastle. South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court heard that the suspected assault took place on February 17 last year. Hodgson, of
Reed Avenue, in Camperdown, was in the dock at this week to face one count of causing grievous bodily harm without intent. The 44-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and
address and to plead not guilty to the charge. Holly Clegg, prosecuting, said that, due to the level of injuries involved, the case should be sent to the crown court. She added:
"It's the Crown's position that this is not suitable for summary trial and I would invite you to send it to the crown court." Miss Clegg added: "The injuries are
severe. The complainant was placed in a coma and has permanent hearing loss. He suffered head injuries." Article continues below KEEP UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND
