Ashington a189 two-vehicle crash causes road closure and huge traffic buildup

THE COLLISION, WHICH NORTHUMBRIA POLICE WAS INFORMED ABOUT AT 1.15PM ON SUNDAY, TOOK PLACE ON THE SOUTHBOUND SIDE OF THE MAJOR NORTHUMBERLAND ROAD 11:09, 31 Mar 2025 A two-vehicle crash on

the Ashington A189 Spine Road caused the road to be closed and a huge amount of traffic building up yesterday afternoon. The collision, which Northumbria Police was informed about at 1.15pm

on Sunday, took place on the southbound side of the major Northumberland road. The crash took place next to the Three Horseshoes roundabout, close to Blyth, and emergency services, including

the aforementioned police, attended the scene. Thankfully, no serious injuries were sustained in the collision, and the road was closed for some time so that the vehicles could be

recovered. This caused a large buildup of traffic in the area, with photographs of the A189 at that time showing cars gridlocked and barely moving. Article continues below A Northumbria

Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 1.15pm yesterday (Sunday), we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A189 southbound near the Three Horseshoes roundabout in Blyth.

"Emergency services attended the scene, it is believed that no serious injuries were sustained. The road was closed for a short time to allow for vehicle recovery and has since
