Local News KELLI TEDFORD, 23, OF KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL MISCHIEF IN CONNECTION WITH THE ALLEGED CONTAMINATION. A New Hampshire “content creator” is
facing charges after authorities say she contaminated food items at a local grocery store with her urine, posting videos of the incidents online. Kelli Tedford, 23, of Keene, was arrested on
Friday and charged with criminal mischief, a Class B felony, Keene police said in a statement. Police said on Feb. 14 an anonymous report was made to the department alleging that an online
content creator, later identified as Tedford, had posted videos of herself contaminating items with her urine at the Monadnock Food Co-op. “Upon notification by Keene Police, the Co-op
immediately removed the affected product and, in coordination with the health department, issued a recall,” police said. Advertisement: Police said investigators believe, based on reviewing
videos of Tedford, that the 23-year-old “likely” contaminated other items or surfaces with urine at other retailers in Keene and in surrounding communities. “Several videos appear to be
recorded as early as 2021,” police said. According to the department, the alleged incident at the Monadnock Food Co-Op resulted in a financial loss for the business of more than $1,500 in
destroyed merchandise and cleaning costs. In a statement, the co-op said it reached out to customers who purchased “at-risk” products following the incident on Feb. 10 in addition to
immediately removing affected products and sanitizing all surfaces. Advertisement: “Our community’s health and safety remain our top priorities,” the co-op said. “While this was a highly
unusual situation, we took swift action in accordance with our food safety and recall procedures. We have also been in direct communication with the Keene Health Department, which has
confirmed that no ongoing risks remain. The individual in question is neither a current nor a former Monadnock Food Co-op employee. We continue to cooperate fully with the Keene Police
Department and the Keene Health Department regarding this matter.” The store issued the recall for the following products purchased between Feb. 10 and Feb. 15 from the co-op’s bulk
department, urging customers to dispose of affected items and ask the store for a refund: * Organic Red Quinoa PLU 364 * Organic White Quinoa PLU 301 * Organic Tri-Color Quinoa PLU 312 *
Organic Cornmeal PLU 308 * Organic Polenta PLU 310 * Organic Coconut Shreds PLU 403 * Raw Walnuts PLU 160 Keene police said Tedford was released on personal recognizance bail following her
arrest and will be arraigned on April 7. Anyone who may have witnessed “suspicious incidents involving Tedford” or who purchased a possibly contaminated item is being asked to contact
Detective Don Lundin of the Keene Police Department at (603) 357-9813. “This investigation is ongoing and additional criminal charges are possible,” police said. DIALYNN DWYER Dialynn Dwyer
