number of flight cancellations over the weekend.

The airline stated adverse weather conditions had been responsible for flights which were not able to operate yesterday (June 1), stating it was "sorry for the inconvenience caused."

‌ An EasyJet spokesperson said: “Due to the impact of thunderstorms across Northern Europe yesterday, some flights were unable to operate as planned.

‌ “We did all we could to minimise the impact of the weather disruption for our customers, providing options to rebook or a refund as well and hotel accommodation and meals for these who

required them.

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and while this was outside of our control, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

Article continues below Birmingham Live understands eight UK return flights were affected by the adverse weather conditions across Europe yesterday.

FlightAware data highlighted eight flights due to arrive and depart at Palma de Mallorca, including services to Birmingham and Gatwick were also axed.

UK tourists shared their frustration at the cancellations on X (Twitter) at the time of the event, with one stating: "@easyjet Nice-Luton flight for tonight at 11pm cancelled.

‌ "Why and what do I do? There are no flights available with yourselves until Tuesday which is a connecting flight, all flights tomorrow with other airlines are super expensive will you

cover this? Missing work tomorrow.”

In response, an airline representative said it was "truly sorry" to hear of the cancellation, and advised the traveller to direct message them.

Anton Radchenko, CEO of flight compensation specialists AirAdvisor explained what to do if your flight is ever cancelled: “If your journey with easyJet to/from the UK or an EU destination

was cancelled or delayed by more than two hours you may be due compensation thanks to air passenger rights legislation (UK261/EU261), depending on the circumstances of the disruption."

He continued: “The same legislation may also allow you to claim up to £520 for a flight cancelled with less than two weeks notice.

“Equally, if your flight is delayed, your airline must provide assistance including meals, refreshments, and overnight accommodation where necessary, depending on the length of the delay and

the distance of your journey.
