THE FRIENDS HE HAD BEEN ON HOLIDAY IN TENERIFE WITH ARE 'DENYING WHO THEY ARE', ACCORDING TO AN INQUEST INTO THE TEEN'S TRAGIC DEATH 11:43, 21 May 2025Updated 11:54, 21 May

2025 Jay Slater's friends who were with him when he went missing in Tenerife 'can't be found' by police and are 'denying who they are' as they avoided the

inquest into the teen's death. Jay was tragically found dead in Tenerife last year after going missing a month earlier. The 19-year-old had vanished on June 17 after trying to walk back

to his accomodation. An inquest into his death was held today at Preston Coroner's Court today (Wednesday, May 21), with his family in attendance. But the court heard how Jay's

friends who had been with him on the island were not in attendance and couldn't be found by police. READ MORE British woman arrested after '£1.2m of cannabis found in luggage'

speaks from prison The county's senior coroner, Dr James Adeley said Lucy Law and Brad Hargreaves, who were with Jay in Tenerife, were not present at the inquest. He said: "We

can't find them. They have denied who they are and we have had police looking for them but we can't find them." Police attempted to serve a witness summons on Lucy Law but

were unable to locate her. Coroner's officer Alice Swarbrick said it is understood that Lucy is currently in Tenerife. Bradley Hargreaves is also currently on holiday, which was booked

last October, the inquest heard. Ayub Qassim, who had rented the Airbnb Jay went back to after the NRG music festival, has also been searched for by the Met Police but they have been unable

to locate him. The inquest also heard from a pathologist who said Jay's injuries were consistent with a fall from height. Home Office pathologist Dr Richard Shepherd said he believed

Jay had been lying where he was found for around 28 days. He said an inury to his head was "by far the most important one in understanding why Jay died", adding: "There were

extensive changes due to decomposition. "There were changes due to the period of time he was lying in a hot environment - changes I would expect to see in that period of 28 days or

thereabouts." Jay's body was discovered in a ravine on July 15 last year, near to where his phone last pinged, after a huge search. He was identified using a 'palm

print', the inquest heard. Article continues below Cheryl McGowan, Lancashire Constabulary's senior fingerprint expert, said she was confident that 'it's definitely a

positive identification' after comparing it to records held by police.
