THE PROCEEDINGS WERE ABRUPTLY HALTED AFTER DEBBIE SPOKE OUT FOR HER SON AS SHE SAID HER FAMILY STILL HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MORNING HE WENT MISSING IN TENERIFE 15:20, 21 May 2025Updated

15:22, 21 May 2025 The inquest into Jay Slater's death has been dramatically halted for a second time today after a desperate plea from his mum Debbie Duncan. It comes after the inquest

heard earlier today that two men who Jay had gone back to an Airbnb with after a music festival in Tenerife were not in attendance and could not be found despite attempts by police.

Jay's mother Debbie was asked if she was content for Ayub Qassim and Steven Roccas's statements to be read to Preston Coroner's Court instead. READ MORE Jay Slater's

worrying six word message hours before he disappeared In an impassioned plea, she asked for senior coroner Dr James Adeley to bring "these people in front of us" to answer

questions her family still had about her son's death after he disappeared on June 17 while walking back to his accomodation from the Airbnb. Jay's mum Debbie told the coroner:

back so there are questions we need to ask. Please." Following Debbie's heartfelt plea, the coroner called a break in proceedings. He had earlier abruptly paused after a witness

was finally contacted, although the court was not told which one. Alice Swarbrick, a coroner's officer, stated that police had tried to serve a witness summons on Lucy Law, a friend who

was with Jay in Tenerife, but she couldn't be found. Article continues below Ms Swarbrick said it is believed Lucy is currently in Tenerife. Additionally, Brad Hargreaves, who was also

with Jay in Tenerife last June, is thought to be on a holiday booked last October. Neither could be found by police before today's hearing.
