The teen, who cannot be named due to his age, was due before magistrates on Tuesday June 3.


He was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a blade, and possession of criminal property, a West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed.

The force has asked anyone who may have seen anything on Sunday June 1 to get in touch.


Article continues below A West Midlands Police spokesperson said on June 3: "A boy, aged 16, has been charged after officers recovered a gun and knife in Small Heath.


"The teenager, who can't be named because of his age, was due at Birmingham Magistrates today (3 June) charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a blade,


and possession of criminal property.


"He was arrested on Sunday (1 June) after we stopped a car on Coventry Road following reports a weapon had been seen inside.


"As part of their enquiries officers seized a gun, a rambo knife, and a large amount of cash.


"A 23-year old man, arrested as part of the investigation, has been returned to prison as he was wanted for recall.


"Our investigation continues and anyone with information should contact us on 101 quoting 20/260240/25."
