SOLIHULL ARDEN CLUB PLANS FOR NEW SQUASH COURT, SAUNA AND STEAM ROOM REVEALED 14:56, 21 May 2025 A sports venue has revealed its ambitious plans to expand with new facilities. Solihull Arden
Club had applied to Solihull Council to build a new squash court, sauna and steam room at its Sharmans Cross Road-based home. The application, submitted to the authority on May 6, also
includes a proposal for an extension to the bar/lounge area and additional parking at the site. READ MORE: More than 60 council staff accept resign-for-cash scheme GET BREAKING NEWS ON
BIRMINGHAMLIVE WHATSAPP The plans reveal the ground floor would be extended to accommodate the new steam room and sauna, adding to ones already at the venue. The ground floor extension also
includes toilets, a lobby and space for a jacuzzi. The new squash court would become the seventh at the venue and includes 44 seats for spectators to watch the action. The applicant
highlights that if the scheme gets the go-ahead from Solihull planners it plans to take on an additional six part time employees to meet demand. No further details have as yet been included
in the application which is now on the council’s website. It is unclear whether a final decision will be made by Solihull Council 's planning officers or if it will go before the
authority’s planning committee. It is the latest application to expand the site which already offers tennis and squash courts and a fitness gym. As the Local Democracy Reporting Service
reported in 2019 the club was successful in an application for four padel courts despite residents’ concerns about potential noise. The club were given approval for those courts, as well as
floodlighting and 10 extra car parking spaces, after the applicant argued the expansion was "vitally important" to its future. A consultation is now underway with a closing date
for submissions of June 11. Article continues below To view the plans and submit a comment search for application PL/2025/00916/PPFL at
