THE CITY COUNCIL SAYS 'VERY FEW' OF ITS BIN LORRIES WERE ABLE TO LEAVE WASTE DEPOTS THIS MORNING 10:13, 21 May 2025 Birmingham City Council has warned residents to expect delays to
bin collections today after claiming there was disruption at all three waste depots in the city. The authority said "very few" of its bin lorries were able to leave the depots -
located in Tyseley, Perry Barr and Kings Norton - this morning (May 21). It blamed striking bin workers on the picket line, who have resumed go-slow tactics, for the delays. READ MORE:
BIRMINGHAM BIN WORKERS VOW TO 'STRIKE FOR REST OF YEAR OR AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO GET FAIR DEAL' Council bosses said that, with so few lorries out on the roads, it will affect the
amount of collections made today. However, residents were still encouraged to leave out their bins. Article continues below The council said it will collect them as soon as it can. It comes
after Unite, the union representing the striking refuse workers, said its members would strike "as long as it takes" for a fair pay deal to be struck. Unite lead representative
Matt Reid told BirminghamLive: “We’re not being encouraged to move forward [from the trucks]. We’re here to delay the vehicles, not obstruct them. “We’ll be out here for as long as it takes
- all of us. We’ve got to put a line in the sand." DON'T MISS THE BIGGEST AND BREAKING STORIES BY SIGNING UP TO THE BIRMINGHAMLIVE NEWSLETTER HERE Birmingham City Council wrote on
