Bin lorries blocked from leaving depots again as waste piles up around city

prevented from resuming their rounds. The authority said "very few" of its bin trucks were able to leave to depots in Tyseley, Perry Barr and Kings Norton this morning, Thursday,

people have taken to social media to complain of mounting piles of bin bags amid fears Birmingham is heading for a return to huge stacks of dumped black sacks. The situation was brought

under control after police sent to the depots used powers under the Public Order Act to curtail "go-slow" protects which saw pickets walk in front of dustcarts trying to get onto

the streets. But those powers have now expired and the tactics have resumed. Unite, the union representing the striking refuse workers, said its members would strike "as long as it

takes" for a fair pay deal to be struck. Unite lead representative Matt Reid told BirminghamLive: “We’re not being encouraged to move forward [from the trucks]. We’re here to delay the
