huge pay rise this month - which may come as a surprise. Benefits claimants and households on Universal Credit will get a huge pay rise this month courtesy of the Department for Work and


Pensions (DWP).


Benefit payments rose by 1.7% on April 7, which was in line with the consumer price index (CPI) level of inflation for September 2024. But because of how assessment periods work, some won't


receive the uplift until June.


‌ The date you will receive the pay boost depends on when your last assessment period was. Those whose assessment period started after April 7 saw their benefits rise as early as May 13.

But those whose assessment period started earlier than this could be forced to wait until June 12 to get the payment boost.


Article continues below If your assessment period was March 28 to April 27 then the increase will be applied in June, meaning you'll get it in your payment on June 1.


If your assessment period is March 29 to April 28 then the increase will be applied in June, meaning you'll get it in your payment on June 2.


For March 30 to April 29, then the increase will be applied in June, meaning you'll get it in your payment on June 5.

For April 3 to May 2 then the increase will be applied in June, meaning you'll get it in your payment on June 9 and for April 4 to May 3 then the increase will be applied in June, meaning


you'll get it in your payment on June 10.


For April 5 to May 4 then the increase will be applied in June, meaning you'll get it in your payment on June 11 and for April 6 to May 5 then the increase will be applied in June, meaning


you'll get it in your payment on June 12.
