Dwp warns 24 million people who claim at least one benefit to act on tuesday

claimants to make a "double check" on Tuesday. The DWP took to Twitter, now X, with a warning for people who claim benefits - because payment dates are changing. "! Changes to

benefits payments. With the spring bank holiday falling on Monday 26 May, you will receive most payments on Friday 23 instead." It said benefits payments, like Child Benefit payments,

are usually paid on a different date than usual if they're due on a bank holiday. There are currently 24 claimants who claim at least one DWP benefit. It said: "You can double

check yours on http://GOV.UK." The government says on its website: “If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid on the working day before. This may be

payments on Monday, May 26, you will now receive it on Friday, May 23: Universal Credit, State pension, Pension credit, Child Benefit, Disability living allowance, Personal independence

payment (PIP), Attendance allowance, Carer’s allowance, Employment support allowance, Income support and Jobseeker’s allowance. Benefits saw a 1.7 per cent increase in April 2025 in a bid by

the Labour Party government. Rrecipients are being warned that they may not see this bump in their next payment. The latest assessment period started from April 7 onwards. This means that

some claimants may not see their increased rate until around June. State pension increased by 4.1%, in line with triple lock rules, which means that pensioners now receive £230.25 weekly.

Universal Credit will be increased for single people aged 25 and over. This change will be introduced between 2026 and 2027, with the benefit increasing by over £7 per week. Article

you're on a low income or need help with your living costs, then you could be entitled to Universal Credit. To claim, you must live in the UK, be aged 18 or over (with some exceptions

if you're 15 to 17), be under State Pension age, and have £16,000 or less in money, savings and investments.
