Dwp paying people on universal credit free £317 into bank account from midnight

Pensions is set to pay £317 direct into bank accounts from midnight. The DWP is making a change to Universal Credit payments at midnight on Friday, because of the May Bank Holiday. Because

the Bank Holiday Monday falls on May 26, people under 25 who receive a Universal Credit payment on Monday will now be paid three days early, on Friday, May 23, with £317 set to be issued.

Universal Credit and other DWP-related benefits increased by 1.7 per cent on April 7. Due to most benefits being paid in arrears, claimants will not see the full uprating until the next

account to make a claim. You must complete your claim within 28 days of creating your account or you will have to start again. Your claim starts on the date you submit it in your account. If

you live with your partner, you will both need to create accounts. You’ll link them together when you claim. You cannot claim by yourself. If you cannot claim online, you can claim by phone

through the Universal Credit helpline. If you already get benefits, you should work out if you’ll be better off before you or your partner claim Universal Credit. If you apply for Universal

Credit those benefits might end and you will not be able to apply for them again, even if your application is not approved. The Government is also creating a new Fair Repayment Rate, which

caps debt repayments made with Universal Credit at 15 per cent of the standard allowance. It claims this will allow 1.2 million households to keep more of their Universal Credit award.

Article continues below Under-25 single claimants will get £316.98 a month, up from £311.68 last year. Under-25 joint claimants will get £497.55 a month, an increase from £489.23. Over-25

single claimants are to receive £400.14, up from from £393.45. Over-25 joint claimants will get £628.09, an increase from the current £617.60.
