CONNOR BROOKES, 20, WAS SHOT IN THE HEAD AND COULD NOT BE SAVED 13:53, 30 May 2025 This is the moment a stolen Ford Focus slowed in a street just seconds before a man was shot dead in a
barbaric drive-by execution. Children and their parents were walking along Well Lane, in Walsall, when a single deadly shot was fired from the back of the car. A 'slug of metal'
from the weapon passed straight through Connor Brookes' brain as he sat in the driver's seat of a parked van. The 20-year-old's passenger and friend Bradley Sladyszyn was shot
in the left shoulder and survived the ordeal. The horrific daylight attack was in revenge for the murder of Bailey Atkinson in 2023. Connor's brother Patrick Brookes was one of seven
killers who were convicted and handed life sentences for Bailey's murder in May 2024. Article continues below READ MORE: DRIVE-BY SHOOTING WAS 'REVENGE ATTACK FOR BAILEY ATKINSON
MURDER' - JURY TOLD Bradley's cousin Benjamin Wilkes was also one of Bailey's killers, Wolverhampton Crown Court previously heard. Jake Sanbrook, Byron Sellick and Julian
Falconer were today (Friday, May 30) locked up for life over the drive-by shooting. The trio were friends of Bailey and had images of him, as well as material related to his death, on their
phones. They were convicted by jurors at Wolverhampton Crown Court of murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The Ford was driven by Sanbrook, with
Sellick and Falconer his passengers on July 8, 2024. Footage released by West Midlands Police showed the trio travelling in the stolen car 'seeking revenge'. Two shots were fired
from the Ford towards a Nissan Qashqai pursuing it less than two miles away on Stephenson Avenue. Police say this was also an attempted revenge attack for Bailey's murder. Less than 15
minutes later, the Ford arrived in Well Lane and pulled up alongside the van just before 5pm. The double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun was fired just six seconds later, wounding both Connor and
Bradley. The Focus was driven away from the murder scene at almost 50mph and stopped in Wyrley Lane where the shotgun was dumped within minutes of the shooting. Police recovered the shotgun
there, while the car was found abandoned in Achilles Lane. It is unclear who fired the fatal shot from the back of the Ford but all three were convicted on a joint enterprise basis.
Accomplice Samuel Danks-Petty was also convicted of a single charge of doing acts tending or intended to pervert the course of public justice. He helped the killers get home safely after the
murder, changed the Ford's number plates and dumped it after the shooting. Article continues below Jurors also convicted Falconer of a further charge of having an article with a blade
or point - a kitchen knife found on him when he was arrested in Dudley on August 2 last year. Sanbrook, 23, of Fisher Road, Bloxwich; Sellick, 20, of no fixed abode; and Falconer, 20, of
Wyrley Close, Willenhall; were each handed life sentences, with minimum terms of 29 years. Danks-Petty, 21, of Buildwas Close, Walsall, was jailed for three years.
