In October 2012, AARP conducted a phone survey of 50+ Nevadans to explore their opinions on long-term care, caregiving, and utilities issues that may be impacted by the budget deficit in the
state of Nevada. Some of the key findings include: LONG-TERM CARE * Eighty-four percent of Nevadans surveyed indicate it would be extremely or very important to have services available that
allow respondents or their family members to remain in their own homes for as long as possible if they need long-term care in the future. * Most Nevadans (69%) falsely believe that Medicare
will pay for long-term care services. CAREGIVING * Thirty-two percent of respondents are providing or have provided unpaid care to a friend or relative in the past year. * Whether currently
caregiving or not, the majority (63%) of 50+ Nevadans support the State of Nevada providing funding for unpaid caregivers so they can continue to provide in-home care. UTILITIES * Over
two-thirds (68%) of 50+ Nevadans oppose mandatory “time of day” pricing plans. The findings in this report are based on a phone survey of 800 Nevada residents ages 50+ in October 2012, among
residents 50 years of age and older in the state of Nevada. The interviews were conducted in English by Precision Opinion from October 11th to October 19th, 2012. For more information,
