Walkability, transportation, and housing issues are important considerations in the voting decision of Kansas City voter’s ages 50 and older. They also report that livability issues should
be made a priority so that people can live safety and independently in their communities. * 92 percent of Kansas City voters say creating a Safe Streets Initiative that would improve
lighting and signs and create safer sidewalks is very or somewhat important. * 86 percent of voters say pedestrian safety and reducing the number of fatalities is very or somewhat important
to them when making their decision about the candidates for mayor. * Nearly all Kansas City voters (94 percent) say maintaining safe and independent mobility for all residents is very or
somewhat important. * A majority (94%) of 50-plus voters surveyed say providing services to help Kansas City resident’s age safely in their homes is very or somewhat important to them. The
2019 Kansas City Mayoral Election Survey of 50-plus voters was conducted between January 21 and 29, 2019, reaching both landline and mobile phones. The data are weighted by age, gender, and
