Virginia voters are concerned about affording the prescription medications that they and their family members need, with many reporting that they have already skipped filling prescriptions.
They are united across political parties in supporting several proposed legislative and policy changes. Large majorities of voters support having the Commonwealth of Virginia join
prescription drug buying pools and establishing the maximum amount Virginians would pay for certain drugs. In large percentages, they also support allowing Virginia to import prescription
drugs from Canada and other countries with equivalent quality and safety standards and allowing Virginia to establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board. Virginia voters say a candidate
who supports the development of a Prescription Drug Affordability Board would motivate them to vote. METHODOLOGY This survey of 1,000 Virginia registered voters ages 18 and over (22% via
landline phones and 78% via cell phones) was conducted June 6–20, 2023. Data are weighted using an iterative weighting process on region, age, race, sex, and education to reflect the
population of Virginia’s registered voters. Parameters for the weights come from the 2020 Census and the 2021 American Community Survey 1-year Estimates. For more information, please contact
