2025 marks the fourth season of the award-winning AARP Public Policy Institute’s (PPI) video series, _AARP POLICY NOW_. The online series first debuted in June 2021. It is created and

produced by Kim Sedmak, PPI's Director of Outreach, along with AARP Studios and the PPI Digital Team: Mary Boyle, Meredith Courville, Anne Singer, and Lexi Moore.   The series launched

showcasing a PPI report, _Paying Family Caregivers to Provide Care During the Pandemic – and Beyond,_ debuting with an interview featuring former PPI Senior Vice President Susan Reinhard.

Since then,  Sedmak and team have produced more than 30 segments all narrated by Washington, D.C.  broadcast journalist, Diane Roberts. Using a mix of graphics, expert interviews, and other

footage, the series is designed to “lift policy off the page.” The videos are produced monthly and distributed via social media.     Since its inception, the series has been awarded numerous

accolades, , including in 2024 a prestigious GOLD ANTHEM AWARD FOR VIDEO JOURNALISM. In 2023 the series was also awarded a 2023 SILVER TELLY AWARD FOR BEST ONLINE VIDEO JOURNALISM SERIES.

Other awards include two ACADEMY OF INTERACTIVE AND VISUAL ARTS COMMUNICATOR AWARDS FOR A CAMPAIGN OR SERIES FOR ONLINE VIDEO and AN AWARD OF DISTINCTION FOR CAMPAIGNS & SERIES – NEWS

& INFORMATIONAL FOR SOCIAL.   Sedmak’s background in broadcast journalism makes producing this series a natural fit. The videos explain high-level research findings from PPI reports in

clear, accessible ways while also promoting the policy team’s thought leadership. The videos together have received more than 202,000 views on AARP.org, over 848,000 views on Facebook, and

more than 4.37 million views on X.   Browse the titles below and click to view them.
